The VTCT (ITEC) Level 5 Certificate in Advanced Blemish Removal is an advanced treatment qualification aimed practitioners who hold the level 4 qualification in blemish removal. This qualification is for students over 18 years.

During this qualification, students  will develop their knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology and health and safety pertaining to level 5 aesthetic therapies. Developing their knowledge, understanding and skills to consult with and analyse clients whilst providing advanced blemish removal treatments.

Learners will develop their communication and customer service skills and widen their knowledge of the principles and practises of level 5  non-medical aesthetic therapies, all of which are valued highly by employers.

Learners will acquire the skills involved in providing a thorough consultation to establish the client’s needs learners will provide a range of advanced blemish removal techniques as well as providing the relevant aftercare.

Course contents:

Principles and practice of non-medical aesthetic therapies
Advanced consultation for non-medical aesthetic therapies
Advanced skin care for non-medical aesthetic therapies
Provide advanced blemish removal treatments

 

On completion of this unit learners will:

LO1 Know safety considerations when providing advanced blemish removal treatments.

LO2 Understand how to provide advanced blemish removal treatments.

LO3 Know the relevant anatomy, physiology and pathologies for advanced blemish removal treatments.

LO4 Be able to consult, plan and prepare for advanced blemish removal treatment.

LO5 Be able to provide advanced blemish removal treatments.

Opportunities for Progression

This qualification will prepare learners for employment in the advanced non-medical aesthetic industry providing advanced blemish removal techniques.  Additionally, learners may choose to further develop their knowledge and skills by completing supplementary specialist qualifications at level 5 in Laser tattoo removal.

Assessment requirements

Learners are required to complete all assessment requirements related to this unit.

  1. Clinical case studies (pass or fail)

  2. Theory examination (Pass/Merit/Distinction 50%)

  3. Practical examination (Pass/Merit/Distinction 50%)

  4. Assignment/project work (pass or fail)

Learners must produce a treatment portfolio which is required to be completed under the supervision of the lecturer, who must monitor the quality of the treatments performed throughout the learner’s training, ensuring you meet the given criteria.

All clinical case studies must be completed and marked prior to the learner completing the practical and theoretical examinations.

You must complete a minimum of 6 clinical case studies.

Theory examination

Learners must complete a theory examination for this unit. This will consist of a multiple-choice question paper which is mapped to the relevant assessment criteria.

The theory examination will test knowledge and understanding from across learning outcomes 1,2 and 3.

Practical exam

Learners must complete a practical exam for this unit which will be externally set by the awarding organisation ITEC and examined and marked by the external examiner.

The practical examination will take place at the end of the period of learning.

Assignment/project work

The assignment or project work does not contribute to the overall grade but to the assessment outcome of the qualification.

Description

 

Must have Level 3 electrolysis certificate and Level 4 Skin Blemish. These courses can be studied alongside each other.

Learners who wish to undertake this qualification must also achieve the VTCT (ITEC) Level 2 Award in infection Prevention (COVID-19) for Clinical Aesthetics qualification or a regulated equivalent.
